RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION: OUR DAILY CHALLENGE!

At Wesco, we are resolutely looking to the future! Tomorrow has never been so close and even if the field of possibilities remains vast, we are more than ever committed to taking care of our playground!
So it is up to us to listen to the needs of children, to respond responsibly and to pave the way for a better world.

#1: Reducing our impact
on the environment

For us, preserving the environment is more about actions than words. And that's something we've been keen on for a long time!
As a major player in the world of children, we have been committed for many years to meeting the environmental challenges of tomorrow. We have been ISO 14001 certified since 2008.

L

93% of our WASTE is RECOVERED

99.9% of our SHIPPING PACKAGING is RECYCLABLE

Internally, we have put in place an efficient waste sorting and recovery system, which our employees have been aware of for a very long time.

In addition, we have implemented a responsible purchasing policy with all our suppliers.

Finally, we encourage our customers to place orders directly on our website.

L

In 2022,

- 49% of our GAS CONSUMPTION

-14% of our CONSUMPTION ÉLECTRIC

Thanks to a policy of raising internal awareness of simple gestures to reduce energy consumption and to the implementation of technical means adapted to our installations, our energy consumption is constantly decreasing.

L

32 TONS OF PAPER saved in 2023  (i.e. 532 trees saved)

To limit our ecological footprint, we have opted for PEFC certified paper and chosen the Imprim'Vert label.

With our complete collection available on our website, we encourage our customers to use our materials in paperless format and continue our efforts to reduce paper use: in 2023, we have significantly reduced the size and number of prints of our general catalogue and switched our spring-summer catalogue to an interactive 100% version.

L

100% of WASTEWATER AND STORMWATER are TREATED before discharge into the environment

We have a monitoring system that allows us to keep our water consumption to a minimum.

We have invested in facilities to improve the quality of water discharged and we recover rainwater for cleaning the premises.

#2: Eco-design
at every stage

Our employees are highly aware of this and systematically integrate eco-design criteria. Our desire to be a responsible company goes beyond this sphere as we invite all our suppliers to sign our code of good conduct (respect for the environment, health and safety at work!).
Today, 43% of our suppliers have been working with us for more than 10 years and 42% of the companies we work with are located within a 300 km radius of our headquarters.

Optimise

the cycle

of LIFE

of our PRODUCTS

Producing well also means producing the right quantity! Even if high volumes are often synonymous with lower prices, we choose to produce quantities as close as possible to sales, thus reducing the number of unsold items.

These are always donated to charities, to benefit those who need it most.

Our products can be passed down through the generations! So we encourage our customers to resell or donate when possible, by promoting second hand actors specialised in childcare articles, or to recycle when the product is at the end of its life, via our sorting and recycling of furniture.

L

Our ROTOMOULD PLASTIC PRODUCTS are 100% RECYCLABLE*.

*subject to sorting.

Our goal is to replace all fossil fuel-based plastics with renewable, recycled or recyclable raw materials.

In 2018, Wesco is launching a range of eco-friendly baby carriages and small vehicles made from recycled and recyclable plastic.

In 2019, Wesco is moving up a gear with a range of children's tableware made from bio-sourced material, derived from sugar cane crop waste, the result of 2 years of R&D.

L

34% of our PRODUCTS have at least one
ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFIT

Our Design and Purchasing teams have integrated eco-design criteria into each new product creation and choose to favour more environmentally friendly raw materials.

Wood from ecologically managed forests, recycled and/or recyclable materials, biosourced or natural materials, Oeko-Tex label...

Each new collection is an opportunity to introduce new eco-designed products. By 2023, 34% of our collection includes at least one environmental benefit, easily identifiable by a green leaf.

And it continues to grow year after year!

L

REDUCE the impact of TRANSPORT

No empty transport!

Our products are delivered ready to assemble to optimise space. Since 2008, we have adapted the size of our packages to our products. Our transporters only leave our docks once the trailer is full.

In addition, we select our transport service providers according to the percentage of drivers trained in eco-driving, the modernity of the vehicle fleet and commitments to reduce CO2 emissions.

By opting for Colissimo, we choose a responsible partnerthe leading player in carbon-neutral delivery.

#3: Be uncompromising
on the respect of health

To act in the interest of children's health, we go beyond regulatory constraints. Our products are systematically analysed, imposing a content of substances below the legal thresholds.

L

100% of our textile products are FREE OF NITROGEN COLOURANTS

In accordance with Directive 2002/61/EC which considers that fabric and leather articles may contain azo dyes that may release one or more carcinogenic aromatic amines.

In order to guarantee the absence of chemical substances that are harmful to health, we choose products that are labelled: Oeko-Tex100 "Confiance Textile" mattresses and bed linen, "Certipur" certified foam products with low VOC emissions, and cotton from organic farming.

L

100% of our bottles and dishes are BISPHENOL A FREE

Since March 2011, the European Union has banned the use of Bisphenol A in baby bottles. Controversial, this substance is said to act as an endocrine disruptor and to have an effect on the human body.

In addition to complying with the legislation (which only applies to baby bottles), we apply this precautionary principle to our range of tableware, which is also BPA-free.

L

PHTALATE DISPOSAL

We also offer a wide range of phthalate-free childcare products and we even add this requirement (without legal obligation) to other products such as the coated canvas ranges.

Our products do not contain any of the phthalates DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIDP and DNOP in a concentration greater than 0.1%.

Highly aware of the need to respect the environment and the challenges of tomorrow, our teams make it a point of honour to source materials renowned for their durability, strength, solidity and recyclability (stainless steel, glass, plant-based plastic, etc.).

L

Welcome SUSTAINABLE and RESPECTFUL MATERIALS!

#4: Innovate and invent
tomorrow with you

At Wesco, we cultivate a taste for risk and encourage the curiosity of our employees. The result: a touch of emulation and a good dose of innovation to give birth to unique products that can only be seen here! We are fortunate to have a community of committed customers and professionals at our side: your wishes and suggestions stimulate our creativity and help us to move forward a little more each day.
